A Guide to Caring for Contact Lenses

Contact lenses need careful treatment and care to be considered a safe and feasible option for those selecting corrective eye wear. Improper care can lead to damaged lenses, or even worse, eye infections or scratches, which on occasion results in vision loss. Children and adults that are not responsible enough to take care of their contacts may want to opt for an alternate form of vision correction.

Don't worry, though… taking care of your lenses is simpler than it may seem. With ''multipurpose'' care systems and disposable contacts, caring for your contacts is cheaper, requires less time and requires less effort than before. However, there are some necessary guidelines to keep in mind.

First of all it is advised to consult with your eye doctor to receive individualized advice. In addition, it's important that you don't switch your care routine without checking with your optician first. Certain solutions can react with each other or with certain kinds of lenses and can harm your eyes. Our experienced staff can help you decide on the right care for your contacts.

Proper lens maintenance necessitates cleaning and disinfecting your lenses daily. Always rinse your hands with soap and water before inserting or removing your contact lenses. Your eyes can be among the most direct places for dirt and germs to reach your body. Further, avoid the common mistake of using saline solution for cleaning or disinfecting your contacts. This is only suitable for storing purposes, not cleaning. Additionally, be careful to disinfect your case with disinfecting solution frequently and to let it air out between uses. Eye Doctors advise that you replace your case at least four times a year.

It's true that there may be an array of products out there, but with a little knowledge you can care for your lenses with ease, ensuring healthier eyes and clearer vision!
